WDM Overview

Champion Optical Network Engineering specializes in optical networking and optical transport systems that use Wave Division Multiplexing. WDM uses different wavelengths to run multiple channels on one fiber link.

Enterprise, University, Municipality customers can use WDM to reduce network operating costs and add capacity without running new fiber. Applications include:

Link sites via fiber and share one Internet connection without VPNs
Add 2 - 64 channels with different protocols such as Ethernet, Fibre Channel, and SONET/SDH on one run
Use 1 GigE now, upgrade to 10 GigE without interruption
MUX voice channels to centralize and reduce costs of telco access charges and drop circuits elsewhere on the optical network
